Which South Pacific countries currently apply travel restrictions?
New Zealand – all borders are currently closed to almost all travelers. New Zealand is on the UK government’s quarantine exemption list.
Australia – visitors are not permitted to enter except for Australian citizens or returning permanent residents (and their immediate family members). Australia is on the UK government’s quarantine exemption list, meaning those currently in Australia can come to England without having to quarantine on arrival. The Cook Islands are exempt from the FCO advice against all non-essential international travel.
Fiji – borders closed to all visitors that are not Fijian nationals or residents. Travelers coming to UK from Fiji do not need to self isolate as Fiji is on the UK government’s quarantine exemption list.
Kiribati – visitors who have been in/transited countries with confirmed cases in the last 14 days.
Nauru – all visitors are advised to cancel/postpone non-essential travel to Nauru.
Papua New Guinea – borders are closed to all visitors, except for those who have a written exemption from the Controller and a proof of a negative COVID-19 test, no longer than seven days prior to arrival.
Tonga – all borders are closed to all foreigners.
South Pacific countries open to traveling?
French Polynesia – the FCO now advises against all but essential travel to French Polynesia resulting in 14 days of self isolation on return to the UK. Visitors can enter on the condition of present a proof for urgent family or work reasons. A travel ceritificate is also needed as well as a proof of a negative COVID-19 test result, no older than 72 hours.
