NORTH AMERICA – TRAVEL UPDATES
North American countries where travel restrictions apply
USA – borders are closed to any visitors coming from travelers returning from the UK, Ireland, Schengen Area, Brazil, China or Iran within the last 14 days. Exempt from these measures are: US citizens/permanent US residents, certain specified close family members and certain other limited categories of visas holders, such as UN staff and diplomats, but subject to normal entry requirements.

Canada – has closed its borders to most foreign visitors, including those coming from the UK. The border between the US and Canada has now also closed for all but essential journeys. Canada is exempt from the FCO advice against all non-essential international travel.

Which North American countries are open to visitors?
Mexico – commercial flights to/from Mexico have resumed. Visitors are advised to check with their travel company or airline before traveling.
CENTRAL AND SOUTH AMERICA – TRAVEL UPDATES
Which Central and South America Countries have travel restrictions?
Argentina – borders are closed to foreign nationals and non-residents entering the country.
Belize –all borders are closed and there are no international flights to the Philip Goldson International Airport. However, the airport is expected to reopen on August 15.
Chile – all borders closed from Wednesday 18 March onward. Disembarking from a cruise on the Chilean coast is also prohibited.
Colombia – land and sea borders are closed, including the border with Ecuador. Starting March 23, airports are closed to international traffic.
El Salvador – no foreign visitors are allowed to enter the country.
Guyana – all international flights are suspended.
Panama – all borders are closed to visitors except for citizens and residents, who will need to self-isolate for 14 days on arrival. No international flights to/from Panama at the moment.
Paraguay – all passenger flights are suspended. All borders are closed to visitors until further notice.
Peru – all borders are now closed.
Suriname – all borders are now closed.
Venezuela – travel and border restrictions determined the cancellation of numerous commercial flight routes to/from Venezuela as well as domestic ones.
Which South American countries are open to visitors?
Bolivia – it is best to check with your airline before the journey. Commercial flights to/from Bolivia have been resumed. Visitors must present a proof of a negative COVID test, certified by a Bolivian consulate. Check with your airline before flying.
Brazil – visitors are allowed to enter Brazil by air, except at airports in the states of Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraiba, Rondonia, Rio Grande do Sul and Tocantins (subject to regular entry requirements). Travelers staying up to 90 days in Brazil will need to present the airline company proof of travel insurance with a complete coverage for the duration of their stay.
Colombia – airports are now open to tourism, but land and sea borders remain closed. Visitors need a negative PCR test, no older than 96 hours. This means no quarantine. Tourists need to complete this form before flying and follow the rules on the CoronApp.
Costa Rica – UK travelers are now allowed to enter, based on a certificate to prove a negative COVID-19 test result, 48 hours before departure, as well as a specific local insurance for the duration of the entire trip and a completed epidemiological form.
Cuba – travelers can only visit certain places in Cuba: Cayo Coco, Cayo Cruz, Cayo Guillermo, Cayo Largo del Sur or Cayo Santa Maria and temperature will be checked and a PCR test taken on arrival to these locations. Anyone showing symptoms and anyone that tests positive will be taken to the hospital. Cuba is now on the list of countries where self-isolation on return to the UK is not required
Ecuador – all international flights to/from Ecuador have resumed and there are no more restrictions on international arrivals. Upon arrival, passengers will be required to sign a declaration form, providing information on their itinerary and local contact details.They also need a proof of a negative PCR test for COVID-19, taken up to seven days prior to departure. In case of no test proof, travelers need to have a test at the airport in Ecuador. All passengers will have to self-isolate for 14 days.
Guatemala -the international airport is now open. Visitors need a proof of a negative test on arrival. In case of no such proof, they need to quarantine for 14 days.
Honduras – international flights have now resumed. Visitors need to register online before travelling and present a proof of a negative COVID 19 test, no older than 72 hours.
Uruguay – all visitors, except for residentials, need proof of health insurance that covers actual and suspected coronavirus. You will need proof of a negative COVID-19 test no older than 72 hours. You will need to self-isolate for seven days (proof of address is required) and will have to take a second test on your last day of quarantine. If you do not take the second test, you will need to quarantine for 14 days.
